The Lakif Lupus

alpha.jpg

After a very long process of creating a fox and a dog hyprid, it finally happened.

I was able to keep an being alive that was half fox and half dog.

The foxes I used, came from a fur farm. This made it much easier to get their DNA, but also to see specific trades that I wanted to see in my hybrids.

For the dog part i decided at first to use Pomeranians. Their quircky attitude and small build was exactly what I was looking for.

Cherry Red Lakif

For the most process of my experiments the newly born hyprids didn't survive long. For the most part they passed away, due to unknown reasons.

In the latest stage and those who lastet the longest, died due epileptical attacks.

By examin their bodies i discoverd that their brains where way to big fo the skull.

In order to prevent this I decided to change the dog breed.

The new half was going to be the Siberian Husky.

I gave them the body proportions that resemble slightly their dog origin, with a bit of a bigger head to prevent further issues. Due to the mix of Red Fox and Siberian Husky, their fur mutations seem to have mixed together which cause some very interessting results in breeding programms.

Age range: 7-9 years

Maturity: 1 year

Breeding Maturaty: 2 years

Litter size: 1-4 pups

Body/ Appearance:

Lakifs have roundish skulls that go upwards towards the nape. Slightly falling towards the eye area. The stop is angled very visibly. The snout is half of the length of the skull and pointy.

Both ears are straigth and pointing upwards. From the front view they are lining up with the hyprids fur length around the head. They are round on the head part and coming together pointy without being to sharp on the end.

The neck is looking short but gives the body a balanced appearance. The thickness of the neck is again lining up with the head area.

The back is very long built, giving the whole creature a rectangle look.

Their legs and paws decent in their thickness. They are long and slim looking without destryoing the rectangle body.

Their tail stops between their hocks. It is bushy and straight.

Different shades of the Lakif

Nose:

The nose is round and for the most part they are black. Depending on the fur color it can change to liver, pink or grey. The should never show lack of pigmentations in form of freckles.

Eyes:

Their eyes have the form of an almond and are pointing slightly upwards. In most cases their eyes are brown or yellow. Depending on their color they can also be lighter and can also be green and blue.

NOTE: The Lakif Lupus' genetics may be similar to real life Foxes, but do not work as "strict". Some genetic combinations of the Lakif may be lethal in real life foxes and should not be bred together!

Colors

Reds & Silvers

These two locus decided how much red (A locus) and silver (B locus) is on the Lakif. Each combination can slightly vary in every dog. For example Smokey can be very light and very heavy. But these are de basic looks for them.

Recessiv Color Mutations

All the following color mutations are of recessive nature. which means the need two copies of thier respectif color Example: Burgundy needs two small letters "gg" to be visible on the Lakif.

Another important fact is, that all of the following colors ONLY affect the black areas in the fur. Which means a Red based Lakif only changes its colors on the legs ears ect., if there is another color changing gene active. A Silver based Lakif changes its whole appearance.

Brown Mutations

Colicott (BrCBrC), Burgundy (GG), Bollert (BrBBrB). Brown Mutations only affect black areas.

For example: On a red lakif it would only change the black legs.

Pearl Mutations

Pearl (PP) and Mansfield Pearl (SS). Pearl Mutations only affect black areas.

For example: On a red lakif it would only change the black legs.

Brown x Pearl Mutations

Combining two or multiple of these recessiv gene, can make a complet new color shade. Some of the may look similar and are hard to differentiate.

Pink/Cream/Champagne: In real life, the genetical background is not fully understood. Here we combine Colicott (brCbrC), maybe Pearl (pp/ ss), plus fire factor 20% and a new gene that dilutes similar to dogs (dd).

Pastel

In real life, the genetical background is not well known.

Here it has to be on a recessiv bb background plus the recessiv"pastel gene" (plpl) plus one of the  brown mutations (Colicott, Burgundy, Bollert).

White Mark Genes

This locus adds white fur to the Lakif. Its similar to Border Collies with their whitemarks. Although Lakifs have much more variants.

Currently there are 4 different types. Each of them can be combined with each other.

Whitemark (W)

Whitemarks have a small white blaze, neck, feet, belly and chest.

Platinum (WP)

Dilutes the entire background color of the Lakif. Including black.

Marble (WM)

Marbles are mostly white. Their color spreads fon the back, head, ears and tail.

Georgian (WG)

Georgians are almost white. They have only color around their ears, eyes, nose and back. They appear like freckles around those places in their specific color.

Fire Factor

(unknown, i will be using a 20% chance for litters)
Dilutes only red areas. Black can only be diluted if other colors are present -> Pearl
