Melanism

Regions

Double Mutations are a thing. But sadly trying for a unique triple mutations, wont work on these guys. Once you have more then 2 mutations active (not counting natural state), the dark saddle starts to take over the whole body. Depending on how many mutations are active (3-10) the dark saddle is more or less spread.

In order to get a TRUE Melanism, they need to mutate traditionally, standard with the black and white,

Eye color and coat depends on which mutation is present on the coat (chosen by you) and the animals parents.

Stages

Here you have all 5 Stages of the Melanism and how it starts to spread.

Completly back. Only eye color might determin the mutation.

Melanism with Omitt

Melanism means the Volbur mutates with Natural state, traditionally (b&w) with more than 2 mutations active. What happens if multiple mutations are active on a Volbur but the Natural state is not fully active?

Omitt adds white and/or make it disappears.

Anery/Axanthic, Hypo & Albino with Melanism

Anery/Axanthic  turn of the red/yellow pigments and Hypo turns of the black on the Volbur fur.

Here is how they would look like with those genes active.

Melanism with Edgy (Panthera)

Melanism and edgy combine can create a whole new pattern on the Volbur. Edgy is the only color morph, that can not express fully on the coat. Rather then creating white sides, the coat only changes half way to crystalline, which ends up with spots all over the place. It only effects the black area. Brown does not get lighter.

We call it Panthera since it looks similar to large wild cats.
